This site is approximately 27 acres more or less. A small tract of land, 1.87 acres, was acquired by grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1808. The majority of the property, 25.67 acres, was conveyed to the United States of America by deeds from private citizens in the years 1846 and 1893.
