Grünschwade war ein Zoll- und Hafenort am westlichen Ufer des Peenestroms. Der Ort gehörte zum Kirchspiel Kröslin und lag östlich von Freest/Freesendorf auf der Landzunge „Holm“ nahe der Insel Dänholm, gegenüber der Peenemünder Schanze.
