Underground mining at Nant was intermittent. The mine which produced 46,000 tons of manganese ore over a period of some 70 years was most active between 1902-1907. In 1906 alone, 10,000 tons of ore was produced. World War I saw renewed activity but by the early 1920s mining had ceased and apart from
